Which banks’ cards are suitable for online payments?

PROCESS OF PAYMENT
How does the background banking process of online payment work?
After choosing the credit card payment method on the dealer/service provider’s website, the customer initiates the payment, as a result of which it is transferred to the Bank via a secure communication channel provided payment page. To pay, you must enter your card number, expiration date, and the 3-digit validation code found on the signature line on the back of the card. You initiate the transaction, from then on the card undergoes real-time authorisation, in the framework of which the authenticity, coverage and purchase limit of the card data are checked. If all the data are sufficient for the transaction to continue, the amount to be paid will be blocked on your card by the bank that manages the account (card releaser). The amount is debited (deducted) from the account within a few
days, depending on the bank holding the account.
How does online card shopping differ from traditional shopping?
We distinguish between card-present and card-not-present transactions. The Card Present transaction is carried out using a POS terminal device. After swiping the card and entering the PIN code, the terminal contacts the cardholder’s bank via the authorization center and, depending on the type of card and card releaser, via the VISA or MasterCard network. Validity and coverage checks (authorization) take place here. Going back through the former route, the POS terminal (or the dealer) receives the approval or rejection. The customer signs the receipt. The Card not Present is a transaction during which the credit card is not physically present. This includes transactions carried out by letter, telephone or other electronical ways (internet), in which case the customer (cardholder) initiates the transaction by entering card data requested on a secure (256-bit encrypted) payment page. You will receive a so-called license number, which is the same as the number on the paper-based receipt.
What does reservation mean?
The transaction is immediately followed by reservation (blocking) when the bank becomes aware of it, since the official data must first arrive before the actual debit, which takes a few days and the purchased amount could be spent again. Therefore, with the reservation, the purchased or borrowed money is separated and placed under reservation. The reserved amount belongs to the account balance, i.e. it bears interest but cannot be spent again. The reservation ensures the rejection of transactions for which there is no longer coverage, even though the account balance would in principle still provide an opportunity for this.
REJECTED PAYMENTS AND ACTIONS
In what case can a transaction fail?
Generally, a payment order not accepted by the bank that issued the card (that is, where the customer received the card); but in the case of using a bank card, this may also be due to the fact that the authorization request does not reach the card-releasing bank due to telecommunications or IT error.
Card type error
The card is not suitable for internet payments.
The use of the card on the internet is prohibited by the account managing bank.
The use of the card is prohibited.
The card data (card number, expiration date, code on the signature strip) were entered incorrectly.
The card expired.
Account type error
There is no cover to execute the transaction.
The amount of the transaction exceeds the purchase limit of the card.
Connection type error
The line was probably disconnected during the transaction. Please try again.
The transaction failed due to a timeout. Please try again.
Technical error
If you have not returned from the payment page to the dealer/service provider’s page, the transaction is
unsuccessful.
If you have returned from the payment page, but the browser is “back”, ” reload” or “refresh” to return to the payment page, the system automatically rejects your transaction for security reasons.
What to do if the payment procedure is unsuccessful?
A transaction ID is always generated for the transaction, which we recommend to write down.
If the transaction is rejected by the bank during the payment attempt, please include the
relationship with your account managing bank.
Why is it necessary to contact the bank that manages the account in case of unsuccessful payment?
During the card verification, the account manager (card releasing) bank notifies the dealer (accepting) bank that collects the amount that the transaction can be completed- e. The accepting bank may not disclose confidential information to a customer of another bank, only the bank identifying the cardholder has the right to do so.
What does it mean if I received an SMS from my bank about the reservation/blocking of the amount, but the dealer/service provider indicates that the payment was unsuccessful?
This phenomenon can occur in cases where if the card has been verified on the payment page, however, you have not returned to the merchant/service provider’s website. In this case, the transaction is considered incomplete and therefore automatically unsuccessful. In this case, the amount will not be charged to your card, the reservation will be cancelled.
SECURITY
What does VeriSign and the TLS communication channel with 256-bit encryption mean?
TLS stands for the accepted encryption method Transport Layer Security. Our bank has a
256-bit encryption key that protects the communication channel. A company called VeriSign enables
CIB Bank to use the 256-bit key, which is used to ensure TLS-based encryption.
This encryption method is currently used in 90% of the world’s electronic commerce. The
browser program used by the customer uses TLS to
encrypt the cardholder’s data before sending it, so that it reaches CIB Bank in coded form, making it unintelligible to unauthorized persons.
After payment, my browser warned me that I was leaving the security zone. Is thesecurity of my payment guaranteed?
Absolutely yes. The payment process takes place on a 256-bit encrypted communication channel, so it is completely secure. After the transaction, you will return to the merchant’s website, if the merchant’s website is not encrypted, your browser will warn you that you have left the encrypted channel. This does not pose a threat to payment security.
